I-TRACING is proud to announce that 10 of its employees are now SWIFT certified auditors, 2 of whom are the first certified auditors in France. This marks a milestone in our ability to support our current and future clients under the SWIFT CSP Client Security Program.

What is SWIFT?

Created in 1973, the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) is the international interbank messaging network, allowing all financial institutions to make international payments. It has more than 11,000 users worldwide.

This CSP helps financial institutions ensure that their defenses against cyber-attacks are up-to-date and effective and helps protect the integrity of the broader financial network. In practice, users of SWIFT solutions and platforms compare the security measures they have put in place with those detailed in the Client Security Control Framework (CSCF) and can then attest to their level of compliance on an annual basis.

This assessment of defenses is even more necessary as the SWIFT intra-bank network is a prime target for cybercriminals. In 2018, North Korean hacker group Lazarus targeted the SWIFT network to divert more than $80 millions from the Bank of Bangladesh.

The repository of SWIFT certified companies is visible to all user customers. The latter are now required to carry out an evaluation each year by a service provider that has at least two certified consultants.

The next annual evaluation exercise will start in July 2024, and our clients will now be able to benefit from our SWIFT certified evaluators.
