Apalia, an established French-Swiss cloud player

Created in 2010 in Annecy by Pierre Vacherand and based in Geneva, Apalia supports companies in their transition to the Cloud on topics of infrastructure, automation «as code» and application containerization. Apalia has in its portfolio significant clients.

Composed of about twenty engineers, Apalia’s teams join I-TRACING’s Cloud Automation & Security Business Unit. With this operation, Pierre Vacherand becomes a shareholder of I-TRACING and takes the head of the Cloud Automation & Security BU. He was also appointed General Manager of I-TRACING Switzerland.

“We are happy to join the I-TRACING teams that we know well. We have successfully collaborated on many projects. I-TRACING’s expertise in cybersecurity is well established and it seemed obvious to us to concretize our partnership by offering our respective customers and future customers a complete service, in France and Switzerland.”

Pierre Vacherand, President of Apalia

A strategic alliance at the service of customers

Recognizing that organizations are facing increasing challenges in maintaining the reliability and security of hosted software and applications in complex cloud environments, the two entities with complementary expertise wanted to come together to offer a unique expertise in the secure management of cloud environments.

In addition to strengthening I-TRACING’s skills in the field of containerization, The challenge is to converge automation and security to establish a DevSecOps culture and enable customers to leverage innovation and the cloud while controlling the inherent security risks. The synergy is all the more important as the two entities have clients operating in common sectors such as Luxury, Retail or Banking-Insurance.

“While it is possible to separate cyber skills and activities in certain areas, cloud environments and their “as code” management involve a strong interweaving of cybersecurity issues in the integration and operation of these environments. The development of this dual competence at I-TRACING will allow us to better support our customers in their challenges of improving the level of security and quality of their Cloud.”

Michel Vujicic, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of I-TRACING

An acquisition in line with an international growth ambition

Already present in England, Canada and Hong Kong, I-TRACING continues to develop its presence in Europe with the acquisition of Apalia. Indeed, its strategic location in the Greater Geneva area allows I-TRACING to advance in the coverage of the countries of the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).

Among its growth objectives, the group – which announced 200 recruitments in 2023 – plans to strengthen the teams of its Cloud Automation & Security BU and its Swiss subsidiary, whose teams will respectively have more than 50 and 30 engineers in the future.

“Apalia is a solid and well-known player in its cutting-edge expertise with a strong territorial presence at the service of its customers. In addition, Switzerland is a country with strong growth potential in cybersecurity and cloud, with most of the companies present in the territory demonstrating a high maturity in this area. The acquisition of Apalia allows us to gain influence in the greater Geneva and Bern area, and Switzerland, which is an important step in our international development.”
